Chambre Neuf

272 avenue Michel Croz, Chamonix - 04 50 53 00 31 - Chamonix’s best bar for Apres Ski. Swedish girls dance on tables to the live bands. It is also good for a reasonably priced drink at other times and a favourite for lunch.

Le Choucas

206 rue Dr Paccard, Chamonix - 04 50 53 03 23 - lively bar appealing to all ages and open until 4am at weekends. TV and big screen showing extreme sports. Live band and cheesy tunes are always a good excuse for a drunken boogie!

The Clubhouse

74 Promenade des Sonnailles, Chamonix - 04 50 90 96 56 - Chamonix’s answer to Milk & Honey Clubs in London and New York. Chilled out lounge style bar serving world class cocktails and scrumptious food. DJ’s, BBQ’s and Wi-Fi access. Open 0700-0200 everyday.

255 avenue Michel Croz, Chamonix - 04 50 53 00 52 - MFC’s favourite bar. Outside seating on the pavements of Place de la Gare make it perfect place to people-watch and catch a few rays. Friendly staff, good value drinks and great bowls of chips and mayo – to eat in or take-away ! TV for major sports.

The Jekyll Irish Pub

71 route des Pelerins, Chamonix - 04 50 55 99 70 - friendly landlord and staff welcome you to this cosy wooden Irish style loft. Guinness on tap, a good selection of wines, cocktails and spirits and sophisticated homemade pub food at reasonable prices. Plasma screen for sporting events. Live music and a new bar downstairs in the cave.

Place Balmat opposite post office - 04 50 89 12 26 - the new sandwich and internet coffee shop of Chamonix - made on the spot to order - pack lunches available plus salads, muffins, cookies, coffee and beer.

MBC – Micro Brasserie de Chamonix

350 route du Bouchet, Chamonix - 04 50 53 61 59 - lively microbrewery run by 4 Canadians with a passion for beer. Busy bar, often with live bands for après ski. Snacks (portions are massive) are served from 4pm onwards and the main menu is available from 7-11pm. The chicken wings have become a Chamonix legend.

La Terrace

Place Balmat, Chamonix - 04 50 53 09 95 - Mark Warner run bar, right in the centre of town. Young and vibrant clientele with live bands most nights.

Le Vagabond

365 Ave Ravanel le Rouge, Chamonix - 04 50 53 15 43 - infamous warm, friendly and cheap hostellery. Real beers, good pub grub, cosy fire inside and sunny terrace outside. Happy Hour 1630 til 1830 and open til 0200.

The Stone Bar

Good value French cuisine and friendly service. Great pizzas at reasonable prices and the best and biggest omelettes in town! Watch out for the chilli oil! Outside seating and indoor conservatory.
