The traditional Alpine village of Les Houches lies at the gateway to the
Chamonix Valley. With magnificent panoramic views over the Mont Blanc Range, it
combines the charm and friendliness of a traditional alpine village with the
splendour of high mountain scenery. Quieter than nearby Chamonix it is a typical
mountain village with an old core, pretty church and old wooden Savoyard
farmhouses around. There are a number of pleasant bars and good restaurants for
quiet evenings out and buses run in and out of Chamonix all evening. Its
friendly relaxed atmosphere provides a great base for families. It is also ideal
for those wishing to explore the rest of the legendary valley.
Apartment HouchesA is a first floor privately owned apartment in a chalet
residence right by the piste which sleeps up to 6 people. Furnished to a high
standard with traditional Alpine furniture, it has a double bedroom with built
in wardrobe, second bedroom with bunk beds, bathroom with bath and shower and
separate WC. The lounge/dining room has a sofa bed, dining table to seat
six, TV, CD and DVD player and well equipped kitchenette with 4 ring ceramic hob and
dishwasher. Additionally there is reserved underground parking and ski locker.
The chalet residence benefits from use of a swimming pool. The village centre of
les Houches, with its excellent supermarket and restaurants, is a short
drive/bus ride away or a 15 minute walk. A more extensive range of shops can be
found in Chamonix, a ten minute drive away.
The chalet residence, built by prestigious developers MGM is situated on
piste, with the Prarion lift station just a short walk (or ski) away. Les
Houches has 18 lifts and offers ideal skiing for beginners, intermediates, mixed
ability groups and advanced skiers, those whom wish to brave the famous piste
verte. The pistes are mainly tree-lined which means you can ski here even if the
weather closes in. They're also covered by 86 snow cannons. The nearest bus stop
is a short walk (250 metres) from the main road. There are regular buses to and
from Chamonix both during the winter and summer season, also buses throughout
the evening. The calm location and setting is ideal for a family holiday,
although only a ten minute drive from the centre of Chamonix, giving the best of
both worlds.
