BackgroundChamonix is an unbelievable ski centre with ample to do for all: old, young, sporty, non-sporty, cultural. If you want to venture further afield (your ski holiday Chamonix is not enough!) it is easy to take day trips to neighbouring resorts in Italy and Switzerland, just on the other side of the mountains. There are still some remaining glaciers in the valley - of which the most famous is the Mer de Glace - part of the Valley Blanche ski route. The views are spectacular throughout the year making snowboarding and skiing Chamonix and Chamonix summer holidays a must for everyone! There are 10000 Chamonix habitants rising to 40000 and 90000 in the winter and summer peak seasons. ArgentiereArgentiere is at the far end of the Chamonix valley, en route to Le Tour, Vallorcine and Switzerland. It lies at the foot of Les Grands Montets ski area which offers arguably the best and most challenging skiing in the valley. The village itself, while fairly small, is vibrant with an assortment of good shops, bars and restaurants along the main street. |
